(“we”). Questions about the app go to the e-mail address above.
With Stapel you photograph receipts and invoices or hand them to the app as PDFs or images. The app reads the receipt on your iPhone: issuer, date, total, tax rates and the individual line items. It suggests a category, learns from your corrections, shows you month and year by category, issuer and product, and tracks how prices of individual products develop. You can enter a warranty and a payment deadline and be reminded of them. With Stapel Plus the app files the original as a searchable PDF into a folder you choose in the Files app and exports your receipts as a CSV file.
Text recognition runs on your device. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s on-device language model additionally helps. The app has no server and no account.
Recognition can make mistakes. An amount can be misread, a line item overlooked or a date mixed up. The app therefore shows you whether the line items add up to the total, and you can change every value. Check the values before you rely on them. We do not promise any particular recognition rate.
Stapel is an aid for your private overview. It is not bookkeeping, not an archive in the sense of tax retention obligations and not tax or legal advice. Whether a PDF counts as proof towards authorities, insurers or retailers depends on their rules. Whether and for how long a warranty or guarantee applies follows from the purchase, not from the app.
Filing into your cloud folder depends on the respective service: if the folder is unreachable, the provider’s app is not installed or the storage is full, the app cannot file and tells you so. If you connect OneDrive directly with your Microsoft account, Microsoft is a separate provider with its own terms; whether OneDrive is available is up to Microsoft. iOS shows reminders only if you have allowed notifications for Stapel.
Free of charge, you can add up to 20 receipts per calendar month with Stapel, with every feature for reading, checking, sorting and analysing. Saved receipts are kept without limit.
“Stapel Plus” is a subscription, yearly or monthly. It allows unlimited receipts per month, filing as PDF into your cloud folder, automatic filing after saving and export as a CSV file. Prices are shown in the app and in the App Store.
For the purchase:
When Plus ends, the limit of 20 receipts per month applies again; filing and export are no longer available. All saved receipts are kept, as are the PDFs already in your cloud folder.
Apple’s standard end-user licence agreement for apps from the App Store (“Licensed Application End User License Agreement”) also applies, as far as these terms do not provide otherwise: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the app on devices linked to your Apple Account. You may not modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app.
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body and health. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. We are not liable for disadvantages arising from misrecognised values that you use without checking. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
We may change these terms, for example when the app or the law changes. The current version is always available at this address. We announce material changes in the app or in the App Store.
Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers in other countries, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of their country of residence apply in addition.
We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
